Barcoding scanning and signature transfers as proof of delivery
Using the bar-code scanning module of Trackwap enables
the user to save valuable time at each pick up or delivery of a shipment. Moreover,
bar-code reading is adding a great deal of accuracy of the process.
All the current bar-code standards can be used without any problem for
checking shipment references, delivery addresses, time-frame for a delivery,
etc. Multiple readings at pick-up, transit, and delivery points can check for
missing items.
Three bar-code reading devices are currently
available :
CCD and pen reader and integrated GPRS barcode+image scanners.
All devices can operate in full power-autonomy, via
a battery pack. The user can thus operate outside his vehicle.
Alternatively, it can be plugged into the vehicle power supply.
Advantages of using bar-code scanning.
On-line bar-code reading as a Trackwap module, is
adding reliability and speed to the system.
Indeed, having the driver sweeping a scanner over a bar-code, allows entering
of critical information into Trackwap, within a fraction of a second.
Since the bar code reader used by Trackwap, can switch instantly from
one bar code standard to another, multiple clients can be managed
simultaneously.
When picking up a shipment, the driver can actually create a new
shipment file by entering the barcode, which is present on the shipment.
Valuable back-office time can thus be spared. Upon arrival of the shipment in
the depot, the file can be completed and an invoice for the transport costs,
can be sent to the client.
At delivery of a shipment, a signature of the recipient can be added
on the Trackwap device, which can be visualized in "real time",
on the dedicated page of Trackwap, both by the logistics provider, as by his
Client, indicating the shipment references, date and time of delivery, name
of the recipient, as well as a fac-simile of his signature.
